Fantasy Golf Rankings | Safeway Open

It seems like just 10 days ago we were watching the PGA Tour’s final event of the 2017 FedEx Cup Playoffs. Oh, wait…

After the shortest offseason in professional sports, the new PGA Tour season begins this week with the Safeway Open. We plan to do something new, different and special this year for our fantasy golf rankings. Please read below for details.

NEW! Fantasy Golf Rankings

Here at the Point After Show, we strive to provide our readers with the best, most up-to-date fantasy golf rankings available on the internet. PAS contributor and DFS mastermind, @Sgrignoli3, along with myself will be issuing weekly golf rankings based on recent form data, tournament history, even course layout specifics. In a nut shell, all the detailed information necessary in helping you build a winning DFS lineup.

FantasyNational.com will be used to assist in developing our weekly rankings for the 2017-2018 season. We will identify which statistical categories we feel are most important for the week’s tournament by reviewing the course layout, then create player rankings based on those weighted statistics.

For instance, this week is the Safeway Open at Silverado Resort & Spa North Course in Napa, California. After reviewing the course, it was determined that the most critical stats to incorporate into our fantasy golf rankings are:

  • Strokes Gained: Approach
  • Strokes Gained: Putting
  • Birdie or Better
  • Greens in Regulation
  • Good Drive %
  • Strokes Gained: Tee to Green

We have also included poa annua greens stats into this week’s rankings. Hey, some Tour players just putt better on poa.

So, here you have it. Using the weighted statistics listed above, our newly improved Top 20 fantasy golf rankings broken down by the past 12, 24 and 36 rounds played. Salaries are derived from DraftKings.com.

Good luck this year. Let’s win some moolah!!
