Memorial Tournament Breakdown
Finally, a stacked field! Well, basically everyone who’s anyone in golf minus Rory, Rose and Jailbird aka Tiger. And why shouldn’t it be? After all it is Jack’s tournament.
Muirfield Village is one long-ass course. I believe it even says that on the official scorecard. But seriously, the layout will play nearly 7,400 yards with six or seven (depending on the day) out of the ten par 4’s between 450-500 yards. Two of the par 5’s are reachable so that somewhat balances out the tough par 4’s. But still, par 4 scoring is a key stat to weigh this week. Kyle Stanley sticks out for me here. He’s gained the most strokes on the field on par 4’s from this range in his last twelve, twenty-four and thirty-six rounds.
All four par 3’s fall between 175 and 200 yards. Patrick Cantlay, Brian Stuard and Tony Finau have gained the most strokes on par 3’s in that range their last thirty-six rounds of play. These are other players to consider when creating your DFS lineups this week.
Memorial Tournament Fantasy Golf Rankings
The Memorial Tournament fantasy golf rankings are provided by @Sgrignoli3 – PAS contributor and statistician. The rankings are derived from year-to-date player statistics extracted from PGATour.com. The weighted stats for this event can be found below the rankings. Player salaries are based off of DraftKings.com and FantasyDraft.com. The right end column has a variance in salary rank between these two DFS applications.
**Disclaimer: PGATour.com is used as source for all player statistics. Stats are extracted on Mondays of tournament week and calculated for rankings by our statistical expert. If there happens to be a numerical error, blame them not us. Also, European Tour statistics are NOT included in the rankings calculations.
The top weighted player statistics for the Memorial Tournament include:
- Strokes Gained: Approach = 25%
- Birdie or Better % = 20%
- Strokes Gained: Off the Tee = 15%
- Strokes Gained: Around the Green = 15%
- Ball striking = 15%
- Par 5 Scoring = 10%
According to the model, Brendan Steele, Marc Leishman, Pat Perez and Sung Kang are the best valued DraftKings plays in our top 25 when compared to FantasyDraft pricing. For FantasyDraft lineups, Luke List, Jim Herman and Martin Laird have the best values based on salary.
