Week 8 Fantasy Football Panic Button

There comes a time, in every fantasy owner’s season, where the worry starts to set in that the fantasy stud they drafted may be a bust. Here are some big names, most likely drafted in your first two rounds, keeping your blood pressure high and excitement low through week 7.
Guys that show up on my list are guys you need to start thinking about trading before your league deadline.

Todd Gurley, RB – Los Angeles Rams (ADP 1st Rd, 5th Pick)

Todd Gurley, to some, may be arguably the biggest bust this season in comparison to where he was drafted. I, however, don’t see him as a bust. I see him more as a never was. You may think I am wrong, but think about this. In Gurley’s last 15 games, dating back to Nov 8th 2015, he has only rushed for over 100 yards once. Across that same stretch he has only had 10 TDs and 7 of them came last year. Melvin Gordon has just as many TDs in 7 games this season as Gurley’s last 15. Trade him if you can, lose if you can’t.

DeAndre Hopkins, WR – Houston Texans (ADP 1st Rd, 7th Pick)

DeAndre Hopkins was a fantasy monster last year for his owners (me included). His stock was at an all-time high coming into this season with expectations of top wide receiver written on the wall. Reality check, Hopkins has averaged under 9 targets a game and under 12 points per week as your WR1. It is not entirely DHops fault, “I got 72 million problems and our QB is 1” Brock Osweiler, is the biggest reason Nukdabomb has become Nukdabum.

Allen Robinson, WR – Jacksonville Jaguars (ADP 1st Rd, 12th Pick)

Allen Robinson hits my list after weeks of defending him and believing he will bounce back from his early struggles. Truth is, until Gus Bradley gets replaced as the head coach of the Jags, he will continue to struggle. Robinson is on pace for 69 receptions, 800 receiving yards and 8 TDs this season. Not bad for Marqise Lee, but that’s not who you drafted. You drafted the wide receiver that last year put up 80 catches, 1400 receiving yards and 14 TDs. Not happening, trade him!

Jamaal Charles, RB – Kansas City Chiefs (ADP 2nd Rd, 8th Pick)

For those of you who drafted Jamaal Charles later than the 2nd round this year congratulations, for those that drafted him in the second round, and thought you were getting a value, Caveat emptor. Charles has not been able to get right this year after last year’s ACL injury, and to make matters worse Spencer Ware has emerged as a more than viable RB in his absence for Kansas City. Owners are left wondering when Charles will actually play at 100%. Here is the answer you need to hear, it doesn’t matter. Even at 100% he is 50% valuable at best. Why? Because Spencer Ware is getting the other 50% of your fantasy points. Enjoy working him into a trade with some dum dum in your league.

Alshon Jeffery, WR – Chicago Bears (ADP 2nd Rd, 12th Pick)

Alshon Jeffrey is the player on my panic list that I believe has the most potential to get back to form before the end of the season. It doesn’t take away from the fact that through 7games this season Alshon has not found the end zone and hasn’t had a game over 100 yards since opening day. As an owner I think you package him with another player and try to get a guy like TY Hilton. Sell your unsuspecting trade victim that Smokin’ Jay Cutler is back this week and most certainly will bring Alshon back to fantasy relevance, but all the while knowing you are a full of shit.
If you have any other players that you would like to know about please leave your questions in the comments section below. And as always…..

You’re Welcome!
