Seven-Year-Old Grayson Powell Bowls A 171, Gets Disqualified

Seven-year-old, Grayson Powell bowled a 171, only to have it taken away because his pants were not “black enough.”

CBC.ca: “It wasn’t until he was lined up next to his teammates, ready to accept a gold medal for winning the just-for-fun tournament, that Youth Bowl Canada provincial director Gordon Davis pulled Grayson’s mother into an office.

Her son, who was wearing faded black jeans, was disqualified.

Hey, Gordon Davis, go f*ck yourself. For real. So, our dude, Grayson Powell’s jeans were a little faded. Who cares? Have you ever heard of fashion? What do you have against fashion, Gordon? Who wants to wear a pair of old-man-solid-black-jeans. Players gotta play. Shooters gotta shoot. Rollers gotta roll.

“Seven-year-old Grayson Powell bowled the game of his life on Saturday during a non-league tournament, putting up a high round of 171 en route to a championship win for his team of three.”

He bowled a 171 at age 7? Are you kidding me? You want a seven year old, with enough swagger to walk out there and roll a 171, to do it in non-faded jeans? Come off it. I don’t care if he did it in lime green hot-pants. Any seven-year-old that’s able to bowl a 171 is on another level! Don’t worry about this Grayson, you don’t need this chump’s approval (I mean, clearly you technically do, but you know what I mean). You’re already a better bowler than three out of the four members of The Point After Show!

“While semantics can be argued — how black were his jeans, really? — Grayson’s father has a deeper theory than the colour of his son’s pants.

Davis also coaches teams out of a bowling alley in Corner Brook. The teams finishing second and third, who were bumped up to the top spots, were both from his lanes on the island’s west coast.

“He should be ashamed of himself,” the senior Powell said. “For [Davis] to go back to Corner Brook saying that, ‘We won a provincial medal’ — no. The three individuals that bowled on Saturday, they are the ones that won that medal.”

Davis ejected the Riverdale team to use the provincial win to bolster his own club, Powell alleged.”

So now the truth (allegedly) comes out! ‘Ole Gordon Davis is just trying to bolster his own career as a youth bowling coach and throw shade on our man, Grayson Powell’s shine. Guess what, Gordon, he’s only seven-years-old. He’s going to be around the Canadian bowling scene for a long time. I’m just reaching for straws here, but I’m guessing there’s not a ton of “upward mobility” in the world of youth bowling coaches, so you’re probably not relocating any time soon. So, Grayson Powell’s going to be a thorn in your side for a long, long time. A 171-at-seven-years-old torn, right in your (alleged) cheating ass side, forever.

“He owes these three individuals — three kids — a written apology.”

Davis did not return messages left by CBC News.

As for Grayson, he went home feeling dejected, his father said.

When asked by a CBC reporter how the disqualification made him feel, he had only one word.

“Sad.”

“Sad.” A man of few words! Spoken like a true champion, Grayson. He lets his rolling do the talking for him. That 171 game says all it needs to.

Grayson Powell, you keep doing your thing.

Don’t ever let the haters get you down.

Gordon Davis? F*ck you dude. Seriously. You do owe these kids an apology.

P.S. Real talk, though. Hey, Mr. and Mrs. Grayson’s parents. Maybe just try putting real black pants on your kid next time. That would have prevented this entire situation. It’s not like he’s dressing himself. Be adults. Make sure your kid is wearing the right color pants that are a requirement of the tournament, or whatever. Grayson’s wearing faded jeans, rolling 171 games and stunting on his youth bowling league. He’s the man. We love him. You guys are just being lazy. No sympathy for you. All the respect in the world for the little, future Roy Munson, though.
