I’m just going to throw this out there… If you drafted Dez Bryant, you must have expected more than 20 fantasy football points out of him so far or you’re a Cowboys fan. In both cases, sucks to be you. Dez has been nothing short of a fantasy football disappointment over the last two seasons. I’m expecting this year to be just like 2015.
Dez peaked in 2014 (216 points) and probably won some fantasy football owners their league. Shake that off. Live in the moment. But, 16 touchdowns in 2014, damn. He may repeat those numbers at some point in his career.
I’m not saying he wont.
Actually, to be honest, he probably won’t.
He’s made himself a liability to fantasy drafters. If you had 2014 stuck in your head, you drafted Bryant too early, no doubt. The problem? He’s now injury prone. He’s also not getting any younger, things like this are going to continue to pop up. I’d like to reiterate that great football players are not always great FANTASY football players.
What’s any even bigger concern? Just one game into his 2016 injury tour, rumors are starting to fly about Dez missing meetings and kind of being a dick. Now, do I think Dez Bryant has missed 40 meetings? No. Do I think he probably blows off the occasional meeting and thinks he’s above being called out on it? Yes. I also think 90% of the league superstar wide receivers and running backs have that same mentality. Do I think he’s a dick? I mean, did you see that weird sleeveless hoodie he was wearing last week? Lunk city. Revoke his Planet Fitness card. No more hanging out with Eddie Lacy on free pizza Friday.
As I said, the bigger concern is that murmurs that are circulating supposedly came form with the Cowboys’ organization. Jerry’s a media mogul. You think people just start blabbing like that, about a superstar, if he didn’t give the OK? No way. My guess is that it was leaked on purpose. JJ’s throwing secret shade at Dez and is going to let him implode on his own.
Maybe the Cowboys are trying to get out from under Dez Bryant. That could be because he’s an injury factory with a huge contract or because he actually is an entitled dick. I can’t answer that one. But, I think it’s time for Dez Bryant to put up or shut up. If you have him, trade him. If he’s available in the first two rounds of your draft next year, go with the next best available player.
Football is a game of emotions… I’m sorry for the ones who don’t understand that… No harm intended..#extremelove
