Wow. I didn’t see this one coming. The NFL has officially postponed the opening of its season. They are flat out canceling the Hall of Fame Game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Does ‘ol Rodger actually have a heart and care about the wellbeing of players? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Probably not.
NFL: “The Hall of Fame Game between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers has been canceled. The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced Thursday that the preseason opener, scheduled for Aug. 6, has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
I mean, the Hall of Fame game generally sucks in general. But, this can not be a good sign for things to come. What do you think? Is this just the first domino to fall? Are we going to see an NFL season at all?
At the end of the day. This is probably a good sign. They generally roll a bunch of elderly old men out onto the field for this thing. We’ve seen spikes of COVID-19 happen at a bunch of sporting events already. There’s no reason to wipe out the entire NFL Hall of Fame gold jacket club for a crappy Pittsburgh vs. Dallas preseason game.
“The health and safety of our Hall of Famers, fans and volunteers who make Enshrinement Week so special remains our top priority, The Hall will honor the Centennial Class of 2020 next August, along with what promises to be an equally spectacular Class of 2021, as part of a multi-day celebration of football with an atmosphere that will deliver for fans ‘Twice the Fun in ’21.'”
