Week 4: Top Waiver Wire Pick Ups
Its week 4 and for some of you this is a make or break week in fantasy football. If you are 0-3, you desperately need a win. If you are 3-0, you are looking to keep the lead in your league. Regardless of what your reason, waiver wire is where you win fantasy football championships. Here are the top waiver adds for week 4. These are players currently owned in less than 50% of leagues that should be on your waiver wire.
Quarterbacks
Blake Bortles – Jacksonville Jaguars (12% Owned)
Blake is not an every week start, but he has Top 5 quarterback capability. Well, at least in fantasy football. That being said, he gets the Jets in week 4 who have given up the 11th most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Although I don’t expect a ton of yards he could see 2+ touchdown passes. If your regular starter is Ben Roethlisberger or Derek Carr,I wouldn’t be opposed to playing Bortles this week instead.
Cutler had a terrible game in week 3 and it might be tough to trust Smokin’ Jay Cutler. Worry not my friend, the Saints are rolling into Miami this week. New Orleans has given up the 2nd most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. I expect a lot of yards in this game and in order to keep up they will come through the air. Again, I would play him over Big Ben and Derek Carr this week.
Honorable Mentions: Deshaun Watson-Texans, Andy Dalton-Bengals, Tyrod Taylor-Bills
Running Backs
Alvin Kamara has been nothing but great in a very crowded NOLA backfield. In fact, it could be said, he has out played future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson so far this year. Kamara is averaging 5.8 yards per carry along with 10 catches for another 76 yards. Last week he finally found pay dirt and it’s only a matter of time before his talent can no longer be overlooked. Look for his production to continue to grow.
Alex Collins handled the rock 9 times for a team-high 82 yards in week 3. In a week everyone thought Buck Allen was going to break out he flopped. Allen carried the ball 8 times for a whopping 15 yards and West carried the ball 6 times for 26 yards. Much like Kamara it’s only a matter of weeks before Collins starts to control this backfield. Get in on Collins stock early. He is worth a bench stash.
Honorable Mentions: Jamaal Charles-Broncos, Giovanni Bernard-Bengals, Andre Ellington-Cardinals
Wide Receivers
Geronimo Allison showed fantasy owners something in week 3 going for 6 catches and 122 yards. He is a great pick up this week with Randall Cobb currently nursing an injury. Cobb could be back soon, but the Packers have a short week its not likely this week. Allison is a good flex play in week 4 and worth a bench stash in case Cobb’s shoulder injury gets worse.
Mohamed Sanu caught a touchdown in week 3 and has firmly established himself as the Falcons clear No. 2 receiver. Averaging 7 targets per game, Sanu is a solid flex/spot starter in leagues. When you have a guy on this type of offense opposite Julio Jones, its worth a pick up. Keep in mind, Jones has been known to catch the injury bug from time to time and that would easily create an even better value.
Honorable Mentions: Sterling Shepard-Giants, Jaron Brown-Cardinals, Paul Richardson-Seahawks
