Hue Jackson signs with Roc Nation sports! Well, there you have it, unalienable proof that THE CLEVELAND BROWNS ARE BACK! Everything that Jay Z touches turns to gold and Roc Nation has done wonders for their roster of clients thus far. Contrary to popular belief, there are people that know more about sports and business than I do. One of those people is Jay Z and I’d even venture to believe that most of the Roc Nation Sports team is also in that category.
For me, Hue Jackson would be an iffy gamble for a wet-behind-the-ears sports management division. Then again, all of my sports management knowledge comes from the HBO shows Arliss and Ballers. Esquire also had a cool show called The Agent, but it got cancelled quickly.
But, I digress. If Roc Nation Sports is picking up Hue Jackson, that means they either think the Browns are on the rise or that he is on the rise. I’m going to bet on both.
I guess the real question is… does Hue Jackson get a Roc-a-fella chain?
ESPN: “Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports will represent its first coach, agreeing to a deal with the Cleveland Browns‘ Hue Jackson.
The 4-year-old firm has amassed an impressive roster of clients, including Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Leonard Fournette and Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano, but previously had not ventured into the coaching business.
As the money involved in the business of coaching has risen, so too has the fight among agents to represent those in the highest positions.
In his first season as coach, Jackson’s Browns went 1-15, a franchise worst.
The 51-year-old Jackson is one of eight minority head coaches in the NFL.”
Hue Jackson, throw your diamond up.
