Rest in Peace Danny Dias. Danny was on the 2004 season of Road Rules, which wasn’t necessarily an extremely memorable season. But, it did give us the Polish Pit bull, Derrick. So, he’s the reason I remember Danny Dias. Because, Derrick was extremely naive to being a nonabrasive asshole, when it came to homosexuality. It was kind of uncomfortable to watch. I’m sure he’s since grown, but that is one of my earliest memories of being like “why the fuck would you treat someone different because of their sexual orientation?”
Danny also appeared on The Challenge in 2005, but was eliminated after just 4 episodes. That’s the last memory I have of him. I could be wrong, but I don’t think he ever appeared on another episode of The Challenge.
As your resident MTV Challenge expert, I want to send out condolences to the Dias family.
Rest in Peace, Danny Dias.
TMZ: “Danny Dias, who starred in season 13 of MTV’s ‘Road Rules,’ has died and it appears drugs were involved … TMZ has learned.
We’re told Dias was at his Brooklyn apartment Saturday with a friend. Law enforcement sources say the friend told them he saw Dias take what he believed was LSD and mushrooms. The friend says Dias freaked out, ran in his room and that was the last the friend saw of him.
We’re told the friend left the apartment and over the next 2 days called Dias, getting no response. The friend became concerned and on Monday called 911 for to get a welfare check on Dias. First responders had to force their way in, and found Danny dead in the room.
Dias appeared on the 2004 season.”
