So, this reporter did ask a really dumb question. But, it’s also his job to ask questions and he might have needed that soundbite for the piece he was working on. Just like it’s LeBron’s job to shoot a basketball. Sports reporting (and life) is a lot like basketball. You take your shots and they don’t always go in. Not every shot LeBron James takes is going to go in the basket. So, he shouldn’t expect that every question a reporter asks him is going to be pulitzer prize worthy. Everyone’s just out there trying to make a living.
In defense of Lebron on this one, that was an incredibly dumb question pic.twitter.com/wYU8lJg8uO

Also, this was a dumb question too and he LOVED it. You’ve got to be consistent across the board, LeBron.

I get it. You just lost a game and that sucks. But, you’re getting paid millions of dollars a year to play basketball and your contract requires you to answer a few questions after games. Do you have to be a dick to the beat reporter that’s making like, $35,000 and working in a dying field? That being said, the reporter does need to step his game up. Bad question. It was nice of James to say he was a “smart guy,” though.
This is one of the big knocks that people have of LeBron James. He’s not exactly gracious in defeat. I consider that a good and bad thing. A great competitor should never be complacent with a defeat. But, they don’t need to lash out at innocent bystanders and act indignant either.
P.S. I’m starting to question my pick of the Cavilers.
