Breakout Players No One’s Talking About
Shhhh! I’m about to tell you a secret that you don’t want you fantasy league mates to know about. There are a few 2017 breakout players just waiting to happen that people are not talking about. Until now! Here are some of the most overlooked players in football that will breakout in 2017.
Adam Theilen – WR (Minnesota Vikings)
Adam is currently being drafted in the back half of the 11th round. I really like this value pick considering the second half of the 2016 season Bradford and Theilen really started clicking. In standard scoring leagues Theilen averaged 10.64 FPPG from weeks 9-16. This ranked him the 8th best wide receiver in the league. A full off-season under his belt with Bradford could have him set up for another big season.
Tyrell Williams – WR (Los Angeles Chargers)
So one of the most important things Tyrell Williams did last year that most other Chargers receivers cant say is stayed healthy. Oh yeah, he also finished as the 12 best fantasy receiver in 2016 in standard scoring leagues. So, can anyone explain why this guy is still currently being draft at the end of the 13th round? Is it the fear of Keenan Allen coming back? Guess what, that will not affect him. As a matter of fact it will probably help him. During weeks 2 through 10 last year Tyrell averaged 9.87 FPPG. Almost 10 points a week for 9 weeks? Still available in the 13th round? Yes please!
Cameron Brate – TE (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
So you have a few guys all pumped up about OJ Howard in your league? Good, feed their fire, but secretly follow The Point After Show. Why? Because Brate is the guy you want. Don’t jump on the Howard hype train. Howard has never had over 3 touchdowns in a single season at Alabama. Why do we think he rookie year in the NFL should be different? Here is a nugget that has been proven. Brate finished as the 5th best tight end in standard scoring last year. Oh by the way he is being drafted at the end of the 13th round as the 15th tight end off the board. NFL experience, rapport with Winston and flying under the radar. Smells like draft steal.
Taylor Gabriel – WR (Atlanta Falcons)
Probably the least talked about guy coming into the fantasy season. How? Tyreek Hill is getting attention because he is moving into the top wide receiver position on a mediocre offense. So much attention he is currently being drafted in the 4th round. What? Gabriel is being drafting in the 14th round currently. Have fantasy owners lost their mind? Lets look at this clearly. Gabriel is the same player as Hill, only in an offense that is really good. In 2016, from weeks 8-15 Gabriel was the 4th best wide receiver in standard scoring leagues. During this stretch he averaged 11.6 FPPG. He is big play waiting to happen and he will not be drawing the top defensive back every week. Gabriel will easily be a WR3 with WR2 upside.
