Rest in peace, Chris Cornell and thank you for the music.
I’m not sure if there’s much more to say here.
I’m kind of groggy, getting ready for work and writing; it’s not even 7 a.m. My wife just called me to tell me the news. What a terrible way to start the day. I’m a big Chris Cornell guy. From Sound Garden to Temple of the Dog to Audio Slave, I can get down to it all. So, it’s with a heavy heart today that I remind you that I’m a sports, but I’m THE music guy. Because, I am a big fan of Chris Cornell’s music, I’m going to put on my favorite songs and remember Chris. There could be no more fitting tribute.
NewYorkTimes.com: “Mr. Cornell died Wednesday night in Detroit, said his representative, Brian Bumbery, in a statement that called the death “sudden and unexpected” and that said the singer’s family would be “working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause.”
Let’s fall down a Chris Cornell hole today…
In no particular order. Music is art, so it’s hard to rank things. But there are my 10 favorite songs.
1. Sound Garden – Black Hole Sun
2. Sound Garden – Spoonman
3. Audioslave – Doesn’t Remind Me
4. Sound Garden – Rusty Cage
5. Sound Garden – Fell On Black Days
6. Temple of the Dog – Hunger Strike
7. Chris Cornell – You Know My Name
8. Audioslave – Like A Stone
9. Audioslave – Be Yourself
10. Sound Garden – Blow Up The Outside World
Last night, Chris’s last tweet was about their show in Detriot “Rock” City.
The national and local music industry was hit hard by Cornell’s passing.
… Thanks for the music, Chris.
