Lackawanna College’s Jermaine Eluemunor taken by the Ravens in the 5th Round

The road to the NFL has been an interesting one for Jermaine Eluemunor. Eluemunor was born in London, where he lived until moving to New Jersey at age 14. He graduated from NJ’s Morris Knolls, before heading to Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania for two years. After two seasons with the Lackawanna College Falcons he ended up at Texas A&M. He redshirted the 2014 season, played the roll of a backup in 2015 and stated for the Aggies in 2016. What a winding road for the kid who from North London (where they play very little American football) to become the 5th round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens. I’m sure that the pit stops in New Jersey, Scranton and Texas have just made Jermain Eluemunor a well rounded individual.

BaltimoreBeatdown.com: “I like this pick because Eluemunor has a lot of potential. The Texas A&M product stands at 6’4” and weighs 332 pounds. He has great strength, as shown in his 32 reps on the bench press at the Combine. His size and strength are two of his best traits as a player. Scouts have also noted that Eluemunor is really light on his feet, which is impressive considering his size.

Eluemunor is a developmental prospect because he got a late start to football, meaning that he still has to improve his technique and knowledge of the game. Being that he already has shown to be a talented player at Texas A&M, the fact that he still has a lot of room to grow is really encouraging. I give the pick a B because after taking Siragusa, guard wasn’t the biggest need, but the Ravens were able to select a player with really high potential.”

It’s always fun to see a kid come out of the Lackawanna College JUNCO program. People who don’t follow along closely might be surprised to learn what a feeder the small Scranton college is to the NFL.
