CJ Prosise Will Be Featured
According to reports around Seattle Seahawks camp, Pete Carroll and the rest of the coaching staff love CJ Prosise. Carroll and his crew believe Prosise has the skill set to be a major weapon for the Seahawks. They also understand, in order for him to showcase that skill, he needs to stay healthy.
It is no secret that when Prosise is on the field he has all the weapons to be outstanding. He played in just six games in 2016 due to health. In those six games though, he rushed the ball 30 times for 172 yards. As you can imagine, with his average yard per carry being over 5, he needs to be on the field more. In addition to his abilities on the ground he even more of a threat through the air. In those same 6 games, Prosise caught 17 passes for 208 yards.
Lacy or Prosise
The addition of Eddie Lacy this offseason has caused speculation if Carroll and the Seahawks believe Prosise can be their full time guy. Mostly because of his heath not skill. To begin the season I expect Prosise to be a change of pace back for the Seahawks primarily backing up Lacy. He should be featured in the passing game early and if he stays healthy he could eventually begin to eat into Lacy’s productivity.
Prosise The Fantasy Diamond
As mentioned, if CJ stays healthy he could become a fantasy steal in 2017, very similar to what Jay Ajayi did last year. Currently I have Prosise the 38th running back off my board in a half point PPR format. If you can get Prosise anytime after pick #100 in your draft I think you will win the draft diamond in the rough award.
Lacy Is Too Risky
Eddie Lacy is one many guys this year that someone in your league is high on. My advice? Let them go for that reach. Right now I have Lacy as the 20th running back of the board in a half point PPR format. Chances are someone in your league sees him as a starting running back in the NFL and the primary back in Seattle. They will reach for him way before my #50 overall pick for him. If this happens, laugh a little on the inside and keep a mental note to target Prosise later. This will set up two options, trade bait or draft envy. Either way, you win!
