The Carbondale Chargers baseball team will take on #4 Mid Valley today at 4:30 p.m. after upsetting #5 Dunmore last week. We’re all Carbondale guys here, so you know we’re rooting for the red and blue! What’s another upset? Nothing for the Chargers. We’re rooting for you. TheTimes-Tribune.com: “Pat Durkin singled and drove in two runs, Shawn Connolly homered and Andrew Manarchuck tossed a complete game to lead No. 12 Carbondale Area to a 5-3 win over No. 5 Dunmore in a District 2 Class 3A first round game Friday.
Connolly had two hits and scored twice for the Chargers, who earned their first district playoff win on the field since 2010. They advanced on a Lake-Lehman forfeit in 2012.
Manarchuck allowed one earned run on seven hits, walked two and struck out two.
Carbondale Area will play at No. 4 Mid Valley in a quarterfinal Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Steve Borgia had a double and an RBI for Dunmore. Nick Lawler had three hits and scored two runs, and Joe Talutto knocked two singles.”
