The PGA Tour travels deep in the heart of Texas this week as players contend for the Valero Texas Open trophy at TPC San Antonio. In this article you will find Valero Texas Open fantasy golf rankings, top One and Done fantasy league options, and favorite betting odds of the week.
RBC Heritage finishes
From trick shot extraordinaire to champion, Wesley Bryan captured his first PGA Tour victory at Harbour Town last weekend. After some of the bigger name players like Dufner, Donald and Kisner faded away Sunday afternoon, the 2016 Web.com Player of the Year took full advantage and came through with a win.
Bryan (ranked #48) was the first player outside of our top 25 rankings to win a PGA tournament since we began our weekly rankings over ten weeks ago. I guess our system can’t pick’em all, but we try our damnedest.
Here are 10 notable finishes from our top 25 rankings from the RBC Heritage:
Rank Player Finish
1 L. Glover T32
3 F. Molinari T22
4 A. Hadwin T22
8 R. Henley T26
12 K. Kisner T11
13 J. Dufner T11
14 G. DeLaet T6
15 S. Kang T11
21 M. Kaymer T32
25 W. McGirt T3
All five of the undervalued players we recommended for the RBC Heritage made the cut. Topping the list was Webb Simpson, a $7,200 value in DraftKings. Simpson was our top suggested performer who finished the week at T11.
Valero Texas Open | Breakdown
If you thought the field at the RBC Heritage was weak, wait until you check out the rankings and DraftKings values for the guys in Texas. If the PGA Tour season was Mike Tyson’s PunchOut, the Valero Texas Open would be Glass Joe. The 7,435 yard Oaks course at TPC San Antonio offers a challenge to golfers with narrow fairways and large native areas where unplayable lies can kill a round quicker than… well, just ask Kevin Na about the 9th hole.
The par 5’s are long. Two of the four par 5’s averaged over par last year at Oaks, which typical par 5’s are seen as birdie holes for pro golfers. With the forecasted damp conditions, ball striking and tee to green will be key stats to look at when targeting players. Only one par 5 will likely be reachable in two this week. Look for the above average iron players to score well. Last week, a golfer with 60/1 odds picked up the win. I wouldn’t be surprised to see something similar this week.
