The PGA Tour will get back to its Florida Swing this week and play Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead) in Palm Harbor, Florida. The 7,340-yard layout produced a field scoring average of 72.62 last year, ranking it the hardest par 71 non-major tournament of the 2016 season. See below for this week’s Valspar Championship fantasy golf rankings.
WGC-Mexico Championship finishes last week
Dustin Johnson continued his impressive run with another victory just one week after obtaining the #1 Official World Golf Ranking title. The WGC-Mexico Championship field was loaded with golf talent. Valspar Championship breakdown
One of the more underappreciated courses and events on the Tour’s schedule, the Valspar Championship is nestled in a span of more “popular” tournaments and often gets overlooked. Accuracy and positioning off the tee will be key for players to have opportunities to score well at Copperhead, especially on the two double dogleg par 5’s. Also, the last three holes, known as “The Snake Pit,” is one of the toughest closing stretches on Tour. Players will dread playing the Moccasin, the Rattler and the Copperhead which could make for a fun Sunday afternoon. John Daly is still haunted by his devastating one-putt 12 on hole 16 in 2014.
