Gronk The Broken Tight End?
Is Rob Gronkowski the first tight end off the board this year? Over the last three years this has been a no-brainer for fantasy owners. Gronk was such a superior tight end, he was taken over tier 2 wide receivers in each of the last two years. Then last year happened. The injury bug hit the Patriots tight end and fantasy owners are starting to doubt. It doesn’t come without reason, though. Gronk has not played in all 16 games of a regular season since 2011. Do you take the risk to reap the reward this year?
Is Zeus The New Tight End God?
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, aka Zeus, showed everyone last season what he is capable of doing as a fantasy option. Even with a mediocre quarterback, Kelce was able to lead all tight ends in fantasy points in 2016. Zeus posted 85 catches for 1125 yards, but his one eye sore that sticks out like a soar thumb was his lack of end zone visits. Kelce was only able to put up 4 touchdowns last season. That’s only 1 more touchdown than Gronk put up in half as many games.
So the big question is, do you take risk with big upside in Gronk or do you play it safe and take Travis Kelce off the board first?
Here are my current tiers for fantasy tight ends in 2017. I have listed the top 25 tight ends that are worth drafting. This list will continue to change so check back frequently.
