There are two PGA Tour events this week: WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and Puerto Rico Open. The WGC, which starts Wednesday, will host the top golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings, minus a couple names who have opted out of the tournament. The Puerto Rico Open will have a weaker field than normal which fairs well from some of the mediocre players on Tour. DraftKings will only have salaries and games for the Puerto Rico Open. For those of you in One and Done fantasy leagues, you may be able to choose from the cream of the crop at the WGC. See below for this week’s Puerto Rico Open fantasy golf rankings, along with my top One and Done options in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event.
Arnold Palmer Invitational finishes
Marc Leishman’s 51 foot eagle on hole 16 at Bay Hill propelled him to a one-shot victory of the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday. This was Leishman’s first PGA Tour win in nearly five years. Leishman was one of our five undervalued players in DFS last week. If you listened to us, hopefully you plugged him into your lineup and cashed in on Sunday.
17 out of our Top 20 Overall ranked players made the cut at the API. Here are notable finishes from our top 20 fantasy golf rankings:
Rank Player Finish
2 R. Fowler 12
3 K. Kisner T2
4 L. List T17
6 J. Rose T13
7 K. Stanley T17
10 L. Glover T7
12 A. Hadwin 6
14 T. Finau T28
16 J. Day T23
18 F. Molinari T7
19 P. Perez T17
20 J. Lovemark T23
Fantasy Golf Breakdown
The Puerto Rico Open is exactly that…open. Any golfer in this less than stellar field has a chance to contend. The top 64 golfers in the world will be busy battling it out in Austin, Texas so the remainder of the Tour will have a chance to prove their worth this week. DFS lineups for the PRO will rely heavily on statistics and recent player performance. This is where the below rankings can really be beneficial to your DFS lineups.
The WGC-Match Play offers a big purse prize for the field. I would not be hesitant to use a big name this week given the huge bump in standings you may receive. However, I do not blame anyone for holding onto the elite players for the majors.
