Welcome Back to the Jungle, Tiger
The past dominance. The energy. The trademark fist pump. Love him or hate him, Tiger Woods has shaped and molded what the PGA Tour is today. He is set to make his 2017 PGA season debut this Thursday, January 26th, at the Farmers’ Insurance Open in the San Diego, CA set Torrey Pines Golf Course.
Still not fully recovered from the decade-long struggle back to his former self, Tiger Woods has fought scandal, injuries, surgeries, constant media criticism, and toughest of all…himself. He’s had to overcome obstacles that would force any normal person into a loony bin.
But now, he’s back. Or so he says he is. Besides a stint at the HERO World Challenge in December that consisted of only 17 golfers, Tiger has not participated in professional tournament play since the Wyndham Championship in August 2015.
When he tees it up at Torrey Pines on Thursday, it will mark 525 days since Tiger’s last “real” competitive round of golf. That’s 75 weeks! To put it into perspective, Khloe Kardashian gained and lost 30 pounds four different times since Tiger Woods last played in a full field golf event.
Rehabbing with the helping hands of the world’s best doctors (and I’m sure a few ladies), Tiger is hoping to put his knee and back injuries behind him and make a resurgence back to the top of the golf world.
I, for one, cannot wait to see what his 2017 PGA season brings. Everyone loves a comeback story. As a fan of golf, I can’t help but to root for his strive back to domination. The Tour has changed immensely since his ascension into fame and the history books. Now it’s time, Tiger. Let’s see what you’re really made of.
