Ed’s Top Starts & Sits – Week 13

QB

Stud of the Week

Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

  • Tampa Bay gives up the 14th most fantasy points to opposing QBs
  • Rivers has thrown 6 passing touchdowns in his last two games (I know I know, 5 interceptions in his last two games, too)
  • His fantasy production has been down recently but a great matchup and a must win for San Diego at home.
  • Needs 37 yards to surpass Drew Bledsoe for 12th all-time for passing yardage

Dud of the Week

Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins (at Arizona Cardinals)

  • Arizona gives up the 4th fewest fantasy points to QBs
  • Arizona defense has only allowed 4 passing touchdowns in its last six games
  • Cousins has been on a roll but this not a good matchup for fantasy owners
  • Also, his biggest target, Jordan Reed, could miss Sunday’s game

RB

Stud of the Week

Jordan Howard, Chicago Bears (vs. San Francisco 49ers)

  • San Fran has the worst rush defense in all of professional (and amateur) football
  • Last four games, Howard’s averaging 19 carries for 104 yards = nearly 5.4 ypc
  • He’s also averaging 15.75 fantasy points per game over that span
  • Howard’s been catching out of the backfield; 3 catches for 43 yards in week 12

Dud of the Week

Thomas Rawls, Seattle Seahawks (vs. Carolina Panthers)

  • Carolina rush defense allows the 4th fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs
  • Last two games since back from injury he’s averaging 3.6 ypc and no touchdowns
  • Overall bad matchup for Rawls and Seattle’s run offense

WR

Stud of the Week

Golden Tate, Detroit Lions (at New Orleans Saints)

  • Saints have the 27th ranked pass defense
  • Last six games Tate is averaging nearly 7 catches for 81 yards per game
  • Tate’s averaged 13.7 fantasy points per game over that span

Dud of the Week

Jordan Matthews, Philadelphia Eagles (at Cincinnati Bengals)

  • Cincy gives up the 7th fewest fantasy points to the wide receiver position
  • Sprained ankle but is expected to play week 13
  • Only one 100 yard receiving game this season…week 1
  • Last six games, Matthews is averaging single digit fantasy points per game

TE

Stud of the Week

Jimmy Graham, Seattle Seahawks (at Carolina Panthers)

  • Carolina allows the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing TEs
  • Last four games, Graham is averaging over 5 catches and 66 yards per game
  • Caught 3 touchdowns in last four games

Dud of the Week

Coby Fleener, New Orleans Saints (vs. Detroit Lions)

  • Lions allow the most points to opposing TEs…however, since week 6, Fleener:
    • Has not reached 60 receiving yards in a game
    • Has only one touchdown
    • Is averaging less than 4 targets per game (averaging 7 targets weeks 1-5)
    • Is averaging a miserable 3 catches per game
  • There are better streaming options out there this week *cough* Jermaine Gresham
