Bye weeks are in full swing and injuries are rampant. That being said, the fantasy football free agent market is thinner than it has been in years. Here is my list of fantasy football week 5 sleepers (gambles). Use them if you’re in desperate need. Except, Robert Woods, I legit love Woods. I actually may keep him on my roster for awhile. If you have any other questions, just tweet me: @Cavi_ThePAS.
Trevor Siemian
Trevor Siemian is going to be fine, it isn’t even his throwing shoulder that is hurt. Rub some dirt on it and get out there. Earn your paycheck. He has a great match-up against the Atlanta Falcon’s defense, which has given up the most fantasy football points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season.
It’s all going to come down to if Siemian actually plays or is allowed to play. He’s a flyer if you have injury trouble or a bye week. I’m thinking this might be a good play for Cam Newton owners if their backup is on a bye week. Kind of a “meh” play. But… yeah.
Orleans Darkwa
I liked him last week and I like him again this week. He got me helped me out of a jam with 10.8 points in my ESPN league last week. Jennings is still nursing his thumb (yes, his thumb). Off topic, but do you think Jason Pierre-Paul has any sympathy for Jennings’ thumb injury? I’m guessing not. It probably goes something like, “at least you still have your thumb.”
Darkwa got 42% of the snaps in week 4 and is the only running back on the Giants that has found the red zone this season. The only downside is that he’s facing a stout Green Bay Packers’ run defense. The upside is that ODB has been getting locked down, so the Giants may need to run the ball more. If you’re desperate, or feeling adventurous, he has serious upside.
Adam Humphries
Adam Humphries might be the most disrespected wide receiver in the NFL right now. No one is talking about his kid. He’s got 29 targets on the year, which makes him the second most targeted receiver in Tampa Bay. As the slot receiver he’s been seeing significant time on the field (67% of snaps). He’s going to have a tough match-up against Carolina, but he’s on the field so much and has been getting so many targets, it should all even out.
Robert Woods
If Robbie is still available in your fantasy league go pick him NOW! I’ll wait… OK, you’re welcome. Sammy Watkins is out and that means that Robert Woods is gonna get fed! Dude is gonna eat!
Robert Woods has 18 targets over the last two games. He’s also played 80% of the snaps this season. Last man (of value) left standing. A lot of his production will depend on what version of the Rams’ defense shows up. As of right now, the Los Angeles is giving up the fifth-most fantasy football points per game to wide receivers.
