What to do now that your fantasy football season is over

So, your fantasy football season is over. Now what? If you’re like me, over the past five months, a significant allotment of your free time has been dedicated to fantasy football. If we’re “totes twinzies,” than you also missed fantasy football playoffs this year. This is an odd phenomena for guys like us (as were league champions last year). Now, you and I are saddled with unexpected hours of free time. How you choose to utilize this time is up to you. But, I’ve come up with a few suggestion and listed them below.

5. Yahoo Survival Football

Yahoo offers survival football during the NFL playoffs. You may have also heard these leagues referred to as a suicide leagues (note to be confused with what you may be contemplating after dropping from champion to 10th place), elimination leagues, survivor pools or pick ’em leagues. Basically, each week you pick a team that you think will win their game. If that team wins, you stay in the competition. If they lose, you’re out.

Note: You can’t pick the same team twice. Once NFL playoffs start, The Point After Show will be hosting a survival league of our own. It will be invite only, so stay tuned to secure your spot.

4. Keep listening to The Point After Show podcast

I mean… this goes without saying, right? True fantasy football champions never sleep; they wait. You need to stay up to date on all things fantasy football related, even if you’re in fantasy football hibernation. We’ll be staying with you, on a bi-weekly basis through the end of the NFL season. When the NFL season ends, we’ll be moving to a “once or twice a month” format. So, don’t go anywhere. Hammer that subscribe button as if you were Tommy betting the over.

3. College Football Bowl Pick’em

Yahoo also offers a college football “bowl pick ’em” challenge, if you’re into that sort of thing. All you need to do is pick the winner of each bowl game. If you have any buddies that are also degenerate gamblers (everyone does), you can all throw in a few bucks and see who has the best record at the end of it.

If not? Well, at the very least, now you have a reason to watch the Appilacian State vs. Toledo in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl.

2. Learn how to cook “The five meals every man should master”

There’s no need to be one dimensional. We all love fantasy football. But, there’s more to life (arguably). Like eating.

As a married man, these meals will keep your wife happy and give her a break from cooking a few a week. This will in turn earn you browny points. You can build up these browny points and trade them in at appropriate times for such things as… A guys trip to the NFL Draft, recording your fantasy football podcast multiple times a week, a guys weekend with all your high school buddies, a weekend away that consists of your two live fantasy football drafts or attending two bachelor parties in a two month period — these are hypothetically speaking that is. I love you, honey.

If you’re a single guy, these meals will help woo any suiters you may be courting and/or give the impression that you can become domesticated. This will come in especially handy if you’re thinking of popping the question (AKA dropping three months salary on a ring).

So, learn how to cook a Rack of Lamb, Bistro-Style Skirt Steak, Roast Chicken, Pork & Beans and a Gourmet BLT. Click here for step by step instructions.

At the very least, when your wife/girlfriend kicks you out of the house for replacing your kid’s picture on the mantel with your fantasy football trophy, you won’t starve. After learning to cook, you’ll have five weeks of superior eats for you and your buddies on game day.
